Jennie Driesen / #Doitfor102 - RVCV Volunteers Unite to Support TCF

Many of you know that I love the Tanzanian Children’s Fund. The founders, India Howell and Peter Mmassy, are the legal guardians of 102 kids who live together in their “forever family” at the Rift Valley Children’s Village (RVCV). The organization also runs two schools that educate both the kids at RVCV and those who live throughout the local district, a healthcare clinic that serves the entire community, and a micro-finance program for local entrepreneurs (who are mostly women). TCF’s goal is to break the cycle of poverty for the 10,000 people living in this rural area on the slopes of the Ngorogoro Crater. It’s an incredible place which I have visited twice as a monthlong volunteer. It’s totally exhausting and so much fun. I can’t wait to go back.

About Jennie Sings American Folksongs (at least 102 words!)

Because of Covid-19, TCF’s usual fundraising tour through the United States and Canada has been cancelled. I’d like to help raise part of what is missing, so I’m participating in the #Doitfor102 Challenge. The challenge calls for committing to a daily activity that can be done 102 times, miles, seconds, minutes, or something each day. Over the next ten days, I’ll sing 102 words of some classic American folksongs. I may even sing past 102 words if the lyrics are good! My goal is to raise $5,000 as part of the overall $250,000 goal. No donation is too small or too big. Thanks for taking the time to consider supporting me. Much like the community around RVCV, I am so grateful for the love and encouragement that I can always count on from all of you.
